The trap of the travel film is filming everything you come across and cutting it in chronological order. The result is a slideshow: pleasant for ten seconds, interminable after that.
So the film starts from a contrast, volcanic against glacial, that genuinely exists on the ground and gives the edit a sorting principle. Every shot kept has to serve that contrast, or it goes.
